TRT Australia has published a new guide on hypogonadism in men. With international research estimating that roughly a third of men over the age of 45 have low testosterone, many of them undiagnosed, TRT Australia aims to spread awareness of how the condition may manifest, so that men can seek timely medical evaluation and consider lifestyle changes that support their long-term health.

The Endocrine Society estimates that approximately 35% of men older than 45 have hypogonadism, with the figure rising to between 30% and 50% among men with obesity or type 2 diabetes. Peer-reviewed data from the Hypogonadism in Males (HIM) study put the prevalence at 38.7% among men aged 45 and over presenting to primary care, and found that two-thirds of those affected reported one or more recognisable symptoms. TRT Australia explains that low testosterone is itself a medical condition that often arises from injury, congenital defects, medications, or metabolic disease.
Per the company’s guide, one of the main symptoms of low T is persistent fatigue that does not improve with rest; this occurs because testosterone directly affects mitochondrial function and stimulates red blood cell production—a reduction in the hormone results in impaired cellular metabolism and can lead to anaemia. Fatigue is often accompanied by increases in abdominal fat, loss of muscle mass, mood swings, brain fog, and depression; affected men also usually experience a decline in sexual health, which may impact their relationships.
"While this combination of symptoms is indicative of low testosterone, the condition can only be diagnosed through blood tests and an evaluation by a medical professional," says James Malachowski, founder of TRT Australia. "Once all other potential causes are ruled out, an eligible patient may be recommended testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) to restore their testosterone to healthy levels."
To reduce the impact of symptoms, TRT Australia’s guide also recommends that men adjust their diet to increase their intake of proteins and monounsaturated fats and focus on resistance training. These lifestyle changes can stimulate testosterone production and help the body replace lost muscle.
