DENVER, Colo. (247marketnews.com) -- DataMEDS AI (NASDAQ:MEDS) just made a sharp turn toward one of healthcare’s biggest opportunities: artificial intelligence-powered cancer diagnostics and precision oncology, with the completion of its acquisition of Helomics Corporation from Axe Compute (NASDAQ:AGPU), acquiring a CLIA/CAP-certified clinical laboratory, the Predictive Oncology CRO central-lab business and $1.5 million in cash. The transaction has a total purchase value of $1.5 million, consisting of DataMEDS common shares and an acquisition note.
Helomics brings DataMEDS an operating oncology laboratory and a business built around tumor profiling, drug-response analysis and AI-assisted precision medicine. The Pittsburgh-based company has developed a platform designed to apply artificial intelligence to real-world tumor data to support cancer treatment decisions and drug discovery.
The acquisition also follows a strategic decision by Axe Compute to concentrate on its core AI infrastructure business. Helomics represented the final operating business from Axe Compute's previous identity as Predictive Oncology before the company changed its name in December 2025.
Now that oncology operation is moving into a healthcare company with ambitions to build a broader technology-driven healthcare ecosystem.
“We are thrilled to have completed this strategic transaction that thrusts DataMEDS into the field of oncology,” DataMEDS Interim Co-CEO Gerald Commissiong said.
That expansion could substantially broaden the company's addressable market. DataMEDS said it intends to move Helomics beyond tumor molecular profiling and chemosensitivity testing into cancer screening, molecular profiling, traditional CLIA laboratory services and optimized nutritional support for cancer patients.
The company's broader strategy centers on combining health data, technology, pharmacy services, telemedicine and artificial intelligence. Bringing a functioning oncology laboratory into that ecosystem gives MEDS a physical clinical-services component to complement its existing technology ambitions.
The acquisition includes $1.5 million in cash, which DataMEDS says will provide operational capital to advance its Health Lives Here campaign and expand services into cancer management. The company says Helomics was acquired without third-party debt requiring repayment or outstanding unpaid accounts payable beyond ongoing monthly operating expenses.
