The milestone reflects a decade focused primarily on custom deck construction, which has remained the core of the business as its broader outdoor living services developed around it. Over that period the company has built decks for homeowners throughout the Upstate while adding patios, pergolas, screened porches, and fencing to its scope of work.
Much of that work has involved replacing and rebuilding aging decks as well as new construction, reflecting demand among Upstate homeowners for low-maintenance outdoor space suited to South Carolina's climate. Composite and wood remain the two primary material paths the company builds in, each chosen to fit how a household uses the deck and how much upkeep a homeowner prefers.
Backyard Builders builds residential decks in a range of configurations, including platform, raised, multi-level, freestanding, and pool-side designs. Decking materials extend from pressure-treated and exotic hardwoods to composite and PVC, with Trex and TimberTech by Azek among the supporting product lines, and framing is done in wood, steel, aluminum, and composite depending on the design.
Each project follows a defined process that begins with a design consultation and moves through 3D modeling and 2D floor plans, permitting, foundation and framing work, and finish construction. The company also handles deck rebuilds, replacements, and additions, and it runs a maintenance program covering cleaning, sealing, staining, refinishing, and restoration for existing decks weathered by the region's humidity and pollen cycles.
The company holds TimberTech Silver installer status, a manufacturer credential tied to the composite decking brand. It structures warranty coverage by material, providing a one-year craftsmanship warranty on wood and a three-year warranty on composite and alternative materials, alongside the manufacturer warranties carried by the products it installs.

Railing systems are offered in wood, composite, aluminum, and cable styles, and the company installs deck and landscape lighting, pergolas in attached, freestanding, and gable styles, and gazebos in traditional and custom designs.
